Bengali: Practice Bangla with a Bangladeshi in NYC!

Practice Bangla with a multilingual Bangladeshi-American in New York City!

Hi, I'm Samiha!

স্বাগতম! Welcome to my page!
I come to you from Dhaka, Bangladesh and Brooklyn, New York. My family immigrated to the US when I was young, but I have maintained strong ties with my native land through family, work, and travel. In 2019, I actually spent 4 months living & working in Dhaka and I'd be glad to tell you about my experiences there.

I speak both Bangla and English fluently and I love helping non-natives practice their language skills. Bengali not a simple or easy language by any means so I commend you for your efforts! I am also currently in the process of learning a language (Spanish), so I am very empathetic toward anyone who is willing to open themselves up to learning a new language.

When I'm not in quarantine, you can usually find me running around NYC doing whatever I dream up as an entrepreneur. My professional background is in business development, writing, and—believe it or not—home organizing. My personal interests include traveling the world, taking photos of buildings, making curry at home, and finishing Netflix.

All that is to say: we can chat in Bengali (or Banglish) about pretty much anything and everything. We can take it easy and speak a mixture of English and Bangla, or we can try a challenge and speak only in Bangla—up to you. I'm here to listen patiently and help you gain confidence in your skills.

Cholo, kotha boli!
